On February 5th, Jeff, The Snort Pack (Angel, Ariel, Emmett), and I hit the road from Chicago to Austin on an action-packed ride to celebrate Primo the Blue Boston Terrier’s 11th birthday! We designed and printed a special edition t-shirt to celebrate Primo going to 11 – and beyond – with a Spinal Tap-inspired design. Proceeds from the shirts went to the Texas Boston Terrier Rescue. TBTR Board of Directors member Debbie Johnson was there to help celebrate and host a silent auction.
Snort Monster mamas and papas from all around the country made special trips to party it up at Austin Canine Central. Most of the party guests were superb Snort supporters who we’ve become friends with through social media, so it was a huge thrill to finally meet in person.
Tremendous gratitude goes to Primo’s mom, Krystin Johansen, for including us in this celebration and to friends and huge Snort supporters, the Fernandez family, (who drove in from Florida!) for helping Krystin make the party happen, some of which included the best tacos we’ve ever tasted. (And damn, we like our tacos.) From pupcakes to ballpits to treats and toys galore for both Snort Monster and Monster (human) guests, this bash is one for the books.
If we missed any photos with guests, our apologies! We thoroughly enjoyed speaking to each and every one of you! We cannot tell you how thankful we are for your incredible Snort support. We hope we can meet and hang out with you again soon. We pour our love into designing and printing every shirt, and we do it for the love of the process, the craft, and the journey. And YOU, dear Monsters. We have so much more Snort action to share with you this year, and YOU are part of the journey.
Angel, Ariel, and Emmett are SO PSYCHED! Obviously. tongue emoticon But really, car rides are their favorite thing in the whole wide world next to walks, so this trip was pretty epic for them.
We made it to Texas! The Snort Pack was more preoccupied with experiencing all the new smells.
Hello Lone Star State! Snort Monster is back! The Snort Pack was too excited to hold still for a photo, though.
Zzzzzzz… The Snort Pack loves Aloft’s beds.
Is this is great group, or what? Through a miracle aided by treats and patience, all party guests posed for a group photo.
Jeff and Debbie watch our table and the Snortastic guests.
Super Snortastic Snort fan, Bree, was rockin’ her Sugar Skull Frenchie tee that she modified into a super stylin’ tank! Thank you, Bree – you and Seamus were a delight to hang with!
What a blast it was to FINALLY meet our long time Instagram friend, incredible Snort supporter, and all around fun and super sweet party girl, Cristey! She brought two friends and her Snort Monster, Logan the Pug!
So 7 Snort Monsters and a dachshund walk into bar…
Happy Birthday to you, Primo!
Is this traveling in style or what? Snort customer and party guest, Carrie, chartered a private plane from Las Vegas to party it up Snort style! She also made sure to sport her Snort Monster hoodie to stay warm on the trip. (You can still snag your own hoodie in the Snort Shop.) Photo credit: The Moncilovic Family.
A visit to Austin with a bevy of Snort Monsters in tow isn’t complete without a stop in the Boston Terrier-loving cafe, Austin Terrier.
Slight delay on the way home: Jeff had something horribly wrong going on with his stomach. After treating with over-the-counter remedies to no relief and having a MinuteClinic look at us like we were cray-cray, Jeff checked into an ER. Our Snort Pack and I anxiously waited outside in the parking lot of the hospital.
With a tentative diagnosis of ulcers (among a healthy list of other GI maladies), Jeff was pumped with a medical cocktail for his stomach, and we ended up staying another night in Austin. (About 3 weeks later, Jeff would be properly diagnosed with chronic appendicitis and undergo an appendectomy.)
We were happy to stay an extra day in the beautiful city of Austin, but it was a bummer it was under these circumstances of Jeff not being 100%. But the Snort life is about keeping the energy up and looking at the silver lining. Case in point: A local and delicious brew featuring this fantastic Snort Monster: the “Ugly Pug”! Although, I think it’s pretty darn cute.
Whatever was in that magic ER potion did the trick. He was back up and running with a big smile! He had to take it easy with the diet, but we were happy he was energetic enough to be moving. (Angel enjoyed the party a little too much and got a small cut on her paw. But nothing stopped her from enjoying the trip back!)
Whoohoo! Home at last! We relaxed after the long drive by chillaxin’ on the couch, sporting our Snort Monster hoodies, of course. Angel was pretty cool with this arrangement.
We – are – faaamily! [SNORT.]
We had such a blast! Thank you, Krystin, for this fantastic event! It’s another trip for the books. We love you and the entire Cypress family!
